Exelon/ComEd’s SB 1585 poses a serious threat to the growth of the solar industry in Illinois. SB 1585 would devastate the growth potential of the state’s burgeoning clean energy economy by implementing mandatory demand charges on all residential customers and eliminating retail net metering. Still in its infancy, with fewer than 1,000 solar installations in the state, we should be expanding access to solar not eliminating options for residents and risking thousands of jobs.
